Dr. Kristy Rebek essentially grew up at the Ajax Animal Hospital, following in the footsteps of her mom, Dr. Barb Findlay. She spent many years shadowing our vet team, and officially started working with us in 2014 as a veterinary assistant, receptionist, and occasionally a technician, before starting as an associate veterinarian in 2022. However, she technically had her first job with us at the age of 8, addressing and mailing out our heartworm reminder letters. Kristy earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in St. Kitts and completed her clinical year at the Royal Veterinary College in London, England in 2022. Prior to this, Kristy completed her BSc (Honours) at the University of Guelph. Kristy has special interests in internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, soft tissue surgery, and chelonian medicine. While in vet school, Kristy worked as a teaching assistant for the anatomy and pathology courses at Ross Vet School, was actively involved in sea turtle research with the St. Kitts Sea Turtle Monitoring Network, and published articles for the British Veterinary Association. She held a leadership position with VIDA, an organization providing pro-bono preventative medicine and spay/neuter services in St. Kitts and Nevis, and was a member of the Veterinary Business Management Association, surgery club, and kennel companions club. She also travelled to Spain to complete an intensive surgical course during her clinical year. Kristy has a buff tabby cat named Norman and a Kittitian terrier named Denzel. In her free time, Kristy enjoys travelling, dancing, and hiking with her dog. She also volunteers with Community Veterinary Outreach, providing pro-bono veterinary care to the pets of the homeless and vulnerably housed in Toronto and has spent time with the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre’s Turtle Hospital, providing medical and rehabilitative care to injured turtles. Kristy is looking forward to her new role as associate veterinarian and is excited to provide our patients and clients with dedicated and compassionate care!
