Dr. Findlay started her post secondary education at the University of Waterloo and graduated with an Honours BSc in kinesiology and a B Math. She then attended the University of Guelph and obtained her DVM degree from the Ontario Veterinary College. Barb has always been active in pursuing Continuing Education opportunities and is dedicated to constantly updating her skills and knowledge. She has been a kind, thorough and compassionate member of the Ajax Animal Hospital veterinary team since 1981. Dr. Findlay has mentored many veterinarians and we are lucky to have her.
Barb's special interest is Cardiology and she enjoys soft tissue surgery. She is also known as a very calming influence for cats who are afraid of traveling to the animal hospital. We call her our "cat whisperer" and it is true that feline patients are definitely fond of Dr. Findlay.
Barb shares her home with her husband Peter, a retired pilot, daughter Kristy (who is now a Veterinary Student at Ross University!) Their very well loved cats Jack Benny and Norman have recently welcomed the active and playful tabby kitten named Betty White to the feline part of their family. All of her cats have been Ajax Animal Hospital adoptees. When not at the hospital, Barb likes to spend time visiting her daughter at university and she can also be found traveling, enjoying a game of golf with her family, or in the outdoors hiking.
